Yummmmm!

I was surfing around on the net the other day, probably definitely avoiding school work and/or house work.  I've read other posts about the Pioneer Woman, well I should say that I know I definitely read some posts where people mentioned being delighted that they received her cookbook for Christmas.  I really don't know much else about her, but somehow I made it to her website the other day and started reading through some of the cooking posts.  There were so many that sound unbelieveably delicious, but at the same time I acknowledge I could not eat that way all the time.  But, I wanted to try the apple dumplings.

If you are looking for low calorie, don't even bother following the link because you will just be disappointed.  However, if you feel like living dangerously, just follow that link! Seriously delicious!

I just finished eating my serving and I can't even tell you how yummy they were.  My husband loved them, too.  I'm not saying I won't go into a sugar coma over night, but at least my tummy will be happy!  As an added bonus, the recipe is super simple.

Generally Embarrassed

My husband and I asked and received a fire safe for Christmas this year.  My husband has his own business and I thought it would be a good idea to keep his business papers in there, plus any other important papers that we might have.  It is not often that it happens, but people do lose their homes to fires (my dad and his wife lost mostly everything about 12 years ago) and it is better to err on the side of caution rather than try to gather all of those important papers again.

Enter said fire safe, which until today has been sitting in its box in our family room since Christmas:

Who wants to guess what happened?  Yep, you guessed it.... I stuck all of the parts that came with the safe, INSIDE THE SAFE...(a thing that attaches to the safe to operate the combination lock, some batteries and a couple other things that my husband handed me [presumably a key which I'm guessing was inside some little box]).  Anyway, I just closed the door on the safe meaning to come back to it later.  Well, I went to grab the little turny handle and it turned and locked EVERYTHING inside the safe!  I have no way to get to it.  Well, I had thrown the pack of papers that came with it on the desk.  For $10 you can get another key, but here is what you are required to give in order to get the key:  the form, copy of valid driver's license, copy of the receipt showing original purchase, sign the form, get the signature notarized.  (I understand that they have to be cautious about not just giving out keys willy-nilly to non law-abiding citizens)

Who would have thought that the darn thing would lock up quite so easily?  Not me.  Of course, we don't have that receipt showing our original purchase.  Granted, my dad bought it for us but I don't know that he would have the receipt either.  We do still have the big box in the garage...  I sent an e-mail off to the company today and I'm sure I will have a response tomorrow.  Luckily we hadn't actually put any papers inside!

ETA:  I did hear back from the company today and we do not have to supply the receipt...just all of the other requirements.  I am thankful for small things!

Lately....

This photo is the closest I could choose for how I have been feeling lately...tired, cranky, and out-of-sorts.  I haven't gotten much of any crafting done in the last couple of weeks.  I've been feeling overwhelmed by many things and I'm the type of person that just shuts down and doesn't get much of anything accomplished until I can get it together again.  I've tried to develop a "plan" for how to get back on track, so we'll see how it works.

As a little aside, I made heart shaped waffles for Valentine's Day (it just so happens that my waffle maker is heart shaped) and I wanted to take a photo...battery dead in the camera.  The battery doesn't seem to hold much of a charge these days so I think it is time to replace it.

I have started felting (or fulling, if you prefer that term) some of the sweaters that I bought at Goodwill.  I just haven't gotten around to making anything with them yet.

I went to a different Goodwill this past Saturday, since I was passing by, and I swear that you would have thought you were at Walmart on Black Friday at 4:00 a.m.  The crowd was unbelieveable!  Seriously!  I'm not really sure why.  I know that the financial situation for many people right now is not good, so I'm sure that is part of it.  The only other thing that I can figure out is that the store is in a more snooty "desirable" area so maybe people figure that they will find nicer things there.  Although, from what I could tell it was mostly the same stuff as I see at any other thrift store.

Anyway, I apologize that it has been so long since I have had any posts.  I hope to have more craftiness or inspiration soon.  Either that, or more pet mischief to post about!
