Okashi Courier Bag...Finished!

Here is the finished bag!

I also have a little wallet pattern.  That I think I will make to match since I bought a little extra fabric.  I also think I have enough fabric to make myself a little boxy pouch that I can put change or make-up in.

I'm glad I've finished this and can move on to the next project.

What I'm Working On...

Quite a while ago, December maybe, I purchased this pattern at one of my local quilt shops (Thimbles, in Lockport...but I can't find their website....I know they have one now, but I sure don't know what I did with that e-mail...)

I'm using this fabric for the outside of the bag:

The pattern is just the colored part, not the black part.  It is from the line Spellbound by Art Gallery Fabrics.  I have a cute coordinating plaid for the lining.  Anyway, I have the strap made (for the most part...have to add some buttons and button holes and I don't know how to do the button holes on my sewing machine yet) and I also now have the sides all stitched together and topstiched.  I think the rest of the sewing should go fairly smoothly.

And, no, I haven't made much more progress on the quilt that I wrote about in my previous post.  I'm pretty sure I have crafter's ADD, so I will eventually get back to it, but for now I'm with the bag.

Making It Up As I Go Along

I've been doing a little sewing in the past week.  I bought a couple Moda Scrap Bags that contained these fabrics.  I actually purchased them at one of my local quilt shops.  Anyway, I had been thinking, thinking, thinking about what I could make with those fabric selvage strips.

One day I had a glimmer of an idea, so I just started sewing and cutting...  alone the way, I decided that I would make a quilt for my niece.  She will be turning two in May and I think there will be just enough fabric  to make a quilt top that will be the perfect size for a two year old.

Things look like this right now....

I had sewing the strips into pairs of two.  Right now, I still have seven pairs that have to be cut into squares, then triangles that get turned and sewn.  After that, I think I'm going to mix them up, throw them in a bag and then pull them out to be randomly sewn together.  Should be interesting!

A Busy Week Off...

I had Spring Break this past week, but did not take any trips.  I just stuck close to home and relaxed, especially for the first few days.  Then, I picked up my nephew and niece and kept them for a couple days.  We managed a short walk to the park, playing with Play-doh, a trip to the zoo, and a day of visiting (when my brother and sister-in-law came to pick them up).  I also made a couple treats to give them.

My nephew told me, "Aunt Sally, I had really fun at the zoo!"  I just loved having so much time with them.
