Christmas Finishes

I managed to finish some pajamas for my nephews and youngest niece, just in time for Christmas.  We won't talk about the fact that I was awake from 1:30 a.m. on Christmas Day, finishing them up…

I am really delighted that they still like to wear the things that I make them.  For the tops, I took the easy way out and just bought white long sleeved t-shirts and then stuck some Wonder Under on the back of the extra flannel and cut out a different monster for each child.  You can't tell from the phony, but I coordinated the color of the trim on the pants to the color of the monster on the t-shirt.

I also made the littlest one a cute button down flannel shirt, but in my rush to finish, I never took a photo of it.  I'm hoping that my brother will send a photo when he's wearing it.

A photo of my niece and I.  I tried to edit the shape, but for some reason,  the edits aren't taking in blogger.  Whatevs.

Sweet Freedom!

My full-time (paying) job has been sucking the life out of me this school year, so I've had little energy to get any crafting done when I get home from work.  I've made a few things here and there, but they mostly already been gifted.

Since school let out for Christmas break, I have managed to sew up a few things already.  It's amazing how my mental state has improved, just knowing that I have two weeks off of work! That's good, because I have quite a list of things to make in the next few days.

I made two of these Car Garbage Bags for a friend (no pics).

Today, I sewed up two different things:

The toy bag is for my friend's little guy.  I also put a package of Hot Wheels inside and a little wooden car, too.

The pouch is the 2-in-1 zipper pouch (pattern by s.o.t.a.k handmade).  Can I just say…  1) This pattern is really nicely written and comes together very quickly!  {that's just my opinion, I'm not being paid or sponsored in any way}  2) I'm so in love with the fabrics I picked out for this one and I really wanted to keep it for myself.

I did deviate from the pattern on one thing.  If you follow the pattern, both the exterior main fabric and interior panel fabric have fusible fleece applied to them.  However, since I used a denim as the interior panel, I decided to just use SF101 interfacing on that piece.  I still used the fusible fleece on the exterior main.  I'm really pleased with how this turned out.  I think that if I had used the fusible fleece on the interior panel, it would have been too bulky.

I already gifted the pouch to my friend tonight with a few little toiletries tucked inside and she loved it.  I was so happy to see that she liked it.  I think every time we gift something we have made, it's like giving a little piece of yourself away, so it's good to know it will be treasured!
