***This giveaway is now closed. I will be choosing the winner soon.
Welcome Giveaway Day participants (and regular readers)! I'm very excited to think about all of the new visitors to my blog! I hope you might take the opportunity to poke around and read a few other posts and learn a little about me, or certainly about what has been keeping me busy in the last few months.
I am giving away a "Dharma Eco-Friendly Bag". I bought this pattern much earlier in the year. I just haven't gotten around to making it until now. I decided that Giveaway Day would be the perfect opportunity to try it out.
Here is what the bag looks like:
It is hard to tell from the photo, but this is what I would call a large bag. The pattern also carries two smaller sizes. The body of the bag measures approximately 16 in. (40.6 cm) x 18 in. (45.7 cm), not including the handles. There are pleats in the sides which allows the bag to expand nicely. If you follow the pattern link, you will be able to see a photo of some of the bags when they are a bit expanded. (It was way too cold and windy outside to try to take a photo of the bag when it was stuffed) I noticed, too, that the bag seems to be very sturdy. I wouldn't hesitate to carry canned goods or a large bag of flour or rice in it.
As an added bonus, the bag is made all from thrifted fabric. The exterior fabric was an amazing find, simply because I managed to get 5+ yards of it for something like a $1.59! Plus, I think the fabric must be at least 56 in. wide. I'm going to use the rest to make more of these bags. The interior fabric is just a white thrifted sheet.
Oh! I forgot to say that this bag can be folded up and turn inside the pocket for storage:
To enter, all you need to do is comment (feel free to share something about yourself or something you love about the holidays, if you like). Only one comment per person, please. I will keep the giveaway open until December 17 at approximately 3:45 PM CST (whenever I arrive home from work). As an additional IMPORTANT note, if you are a no reply, name only, anonymous blogger (duff, sorry for the direct copy here, but I though you stated it nice and clearly ), then please leave your contact information (e-mail) in your comment. If you are not sure if this is you...go to one of the comments that you have left on another blog and click on your name in your comment. That should bring you to your blogger profile page...and see if there is a link there to your blog or at least to your e-mail. If that info is not there, then I can not contact you.
i like the design of this bag! it looks roomy and fun. it is very blustery and snowy here to day (western north carolina). our house is very leaky and cold!! we are cuddled up in sweaters and scarves. :)
I really like the bag, I'm having a giveaway too if you want to come over. I live in Costa Rica and have a 4 year old boy, I run a little eco-product company.
I am a complete sucker for white elephant gifts--as well as coming up with the perfect stocking stuffers. http://www.lindsaysews.com. lindsay.conner(at)gmail(dot)com
It is wonderful in this journey across blog land to so many re-purposing, reusing, fibers and fabrics, cloths. What a cute bag! Thanks for the chance to win this giveaway!
I love family, blankets and hot chocolate around the holidays. Being warm and near the people I love and who love me is superb. Thanks for the chance to win. Happy Christmas. stephspitzer at gmail
Love the bag! Love that it is made from thrifted fabric! Thanks for the chance to win.
Have a happy holiday!
(P.S. Thank you for being a teacher. When I was younger I went through a lot of tough times and it was my teachers who took the extra time who I credit with helping me achieve who I am today.)
Very neat bag. I would use it for preschool now (I am a teacher and besides my "stuff" I usually carry a few dozen eggs to sell) but I think in March when our "co-op" opens it would become my go to grocery bag. Love the pocket/storage feature!
So, ya wanta know a bit about me, huh? I've got really big news to share, and am excited about telling it: I'm gonna be a grandma for the first time! Cole Alexander is due on December 26th. How's that for sharing?!?!! I don't know of a more special gift to get for Christmas. Although, you're chic bag would be a useful item for toting around baby stuff! Thanks for sharing your wonderful craftiness with the bloggers in the world. Tina
Oh, this is a superb prize! I love to find fabric finds like that. I really need to do something with them though and if I'd known about this event earlier, I would have! I tat lace and will have to add a few tatted embellishments if I win it!
(Feel free to quote me anytime, but it may be a while before I say something really noteworthy!) Great deal on the fabric!! ah, something you'll find amusing... Every year our family has a "goofy grab bag" where you wrap up a gift that it still usable but you no longer want/need. Last year, I put in etched champagne flutes from my wedding (I'm divorced now). It was a HUGE hit!
Great finds on the fabric! I do love a good deal on fabric. The style of the bag is very cool. Thanks for the chance to win. Lynn heykathylynn(at)netzero(dot)com
hi there! 1i love your prize. i'm super eco-friendly, so reusing materials like you did is just my kind of thing. i'm having a troubled pregnancy and have to stay in bed all day every day for the whole pregnancy, so giveaway day this time meant i kept busy hopping around other people's blogs, instead of being my usual bored self. please take the time to head over to my blog to participate in my giveaway too. i didn't make it to the list in time and it's something small, but there's still plenty of time and there are so few participants that you might actually have a chance to win something :)
