Saturday, I had the chance to go back to "my" university. I went with a co-worker. She was going to watch a Special Olympics basketball even for one of her former students. It was great day.
The basketball event started shortly after 10 a.m. and was finished before 11:30 a.m. This was perfect because it gave us time to go to lunch at our favorite college eating place... Avanti's. (Never mind the fact that the co-worker and I did not attend the university at the same time)
After lunch, we had time to walk around and check out the campus. It was a beautiful day! Of course, the campus has changed soooo much since I attended ISU. There were several new building and such. The dorm that my co-worker had lived in has since been torn down.
My dorm was still there:
Yes, the above photo is of the dorm I lived in. I lived about 20 stories up... I think, total, the building is about 28 stories tall. It was an interesting experience, living in this dorm. You can't actually see in this photo, but there are two towers that each have five "houses" (consisting of 5 floors each). In order to control the situation a bit, the building was designed so that the elevators could only be accessed on level 3 of each house. I learned to ride in some very crowded elevators.
I posed for a photo:
We also caught the tail end of a St. Patrick's day parade:
This was the University High School marching band. They sounded really good!
We were even able to make it home by 4:00 p.m., which mean I got to go out with my husband and hang out with a friend, too.

Wow! I think your dorm may have had more students than my whole college! LOL
What a great day! It sounds perfect. I am so happy you were able to go.
I know when we go back to visit my alma mater it changes every time. At least now they have housing for all the students. "Back in my day" hee they only guaranteed you housing your freshmen year and the last three you were put into a raffle. If you lost you had to find off campus. I was lucky and won two out of three years because even then OFH was incredibly expensive in the enclave of Georgetown in Washington DC. I am so happy that our daughter's OCH cost is the same per year as when she lives off campus next year - plus she will live in a house with her own room and bath. Bargain!
I love your picture. You should post more of them you have such a sunny smile :) IT helps that your very pretty too. heehee
It must have been a weekend for revisiting college campuses! :) I dropped by my old campus (for the first time in 6 years!) last friday! Looks like you guys had fun! :)
Sounds like you had a great time!
