I May Have

gone over the edge (evidence seen in the photo below):

This is a small and partial "mock-up" of a potential layout for the quilt I am making for my brother and his bride.  Yes, these are little 1" (ish) hexagons cut from the actual fabrics.

I wanted to have the fabrics mostly cut out.  That way, when I get my machine back, I can start stitching away.  I've finished cutting the fabric for the main portion of the quilt.

Well, I should have moved on to organizing my craft room, or emptying my closets of unloved clothes, or working on the embroidery for those Birdie Blocks... but no, instead, I make a little hexagon mock-up on the word processor and then cut out the little hexagons (to be fair, they were cut out of little strips of scrap fabric that came from cutting the blocks).  Yesterday morning, I threw them all onto the page.  It's hard to know if I will leave the layout like this or not, because you can't see the true pattern for a lot of the materials since the pieces are so small.  At least, it gives me a place to start, I suppose.

I like it. It looks very retro, but very modern at the same time.
