FQS Bella Parade Contest

I wanted to make one of the items from the FQS Bella Parade: Season 2 tutorials in order to enter the contest to win 20 half yards of the new Bella Solids.  However, I didn't want to make something just for the sake of entering, either.

The tutorial that most appealed to me was this one:  Cheat Pillow by Quilt Jane.  I'd been wanting to make a pillow for quite some time and just had not gotten around to it, yet.

Here is my pillow:

It's a little overly stuffed right now because I just jammed a pillow in (I made a full pillow instead of the cheat front) and it was a bit too big.

I love how this pillow turned out!  I chose coordinated colors based on the AMH print that is in the middle.  Even better, all supplies for this pillow came from my stash... I didn't buy a thing!  Granted a few small pieces of the solids had only been in my stash for maybe a week, but I didn't have to purchase anything (else).

It took a fair amount of time to make the pillow front.  I tend to sew on the slow side and my set-up isn't the best (kitchen table/kitchen).  So, each time I sewed on a strip, I had to get up, walk to the ironing board, press the strip back and then walk back to the table (admittedly not that far, but takes time none-the-less) to choose a new strip, then walk around the table and sew the strip on thus starting the process again.

I am delighted to have a new pillow for my couch.  It is definitely way more pretty than the pillows that came with the couch!

I love how your pillow turned out, the colors look so great together! I have to agree - taking the time to iron in between sewing seams is such a pain! lol

I look upon the walk to the ironing board and back as exercise :)

Your pillow looks lovely.

Such a fun pillow! Great colors! I finally set up a small ironing board near my machine since I got to tired of having to walk into another room to press all the time.

I have been looking for a pillow pattern to make throw pillows for our bed - and this is perfect. I will have to change up the colors, but I love the way you did pattern with solid and some white. My bed is done in burgundy, dark blue, white and cream - so I can have fun with those. YAY.

If I can get it done in time I just might enter one in the Fair. I just love the pattern. :)

I love your cushion!! it's such a great design and the colours work so well. I like overstuffed cushions, they're more cuddly.
