I made myself a calendar/planner cover with my Michael Miller challenge fabrics. I ended up ordering a coordinating pack of solid FQ's from somewhere. I really only used the tannish color that is in the border, some of the aqua and a tiny bit of the green.
I am really pleased with how this turned out, considering that I worked out the "pattern" sizing for myself. I just designed this piece by piece/block. The first block I made was the large one in the photo above. Then I added the tiny strip of hst's that is to the right… those darn things finish at 1/2" (or 1" when put in pairs). TINY!
After those two pieces, I just slowly added parts on. I really love how this turned out! I'm pretty proud of myself.
I quilted it with Aurifil 50wt thread in a gray color. I don't think you can ever go wrong with Aurifil! It always looks so nice when I'm finished.

very cool! I like it a lot & you'll get good use out of it. Nice job
Very cheery! The quilting really stands out. I like that!
Wow that's gorgeous - I've been making similar composition book covers lately but mine are the lazy version - a single fabric for the ront - I much prefer the patchworked and pieced one you've made - it's got built-in BLING!
... and that would be front, not ront, LOL!
oh i love that! such great colors and so handy!
