My full-time (paying) job has been sucking the life out of me this school year, so I've had little energy to get any crafting done when I get home from work. I've made a few things here and there, but they mostly already been gifted.
Since school let out for Christmas break, I have managed to sew up a few things already. It's amazing how my mental state has improved, just knowing that I have two weeks off of work! That's good, because I have quite a list of things to make in the next few days.
I made two of these Car Garbage Bags for a friend (no pics).
Today, I sewed up two different things:
The toy bag is for my friend's little guy. I also put a package of Hot Wheels inside and a little wooden car, too.
The pouch is the 2-in-1 zipper pouch (pattern by s.o.t.a.k handmade). Can I just say… 1) This pattern is really nicely written and comes together very quickly! {that's just my opinion, I'm not being paid or sponsored in any way} 2) I'm so in love with the fabrics I picked out for this one and I really wanted to keep it for myself.
I did deviate from the pattern on one thing. If you follow the pattern, both the exterior main fabric and interior panel fabric have fusible fleece applied to them. However, since I used a denim as the interior panel, I decided to just use SF101 interfacing on that piece. I still used the fusible fleece on the exterior main. I'm really pleased with how this turned out. I think that if I had used the fusible fleece on the interior panel, it would have been too bulky.
I already gifted the pouch to my friend tonight with a few little toiletries tucked inside and she loved it. I was so happy to see that she liked it. I think every time we gift something we have made, it's like giving a little piece of yourself away, so it's good to know it will be treasured!

that 2 in 1 pouch is on my list to try, glad to hear you like the pattern! Enjoy your break. great to see you on here!
Such cute projects.
I am hearing that same thing from all my education friends. They are ready for a break.
I'm glad you're getting a much needed break - and glad you've posted! Love your bags - the fabrics are FANTASTIC, and the patterns are great too. Which tutorial or pattern did you use for Owen's bag? I've made a similar one, and IIRC, she posted an additional tutorial to do the clear window in initials - I'm sure I pinned it, but have only made the original bag with the rectangle window. Love Svetlana's Two in One Pouch - I don't have and have never used fusible fleece so I don't know how thick it is - I used regular old quilt batting (Warm and Natural, probably) for the outside and inside layers of mine and had no problems - it wasn't too thick. The fusible is probably thicker :D I'm going to try a snap next time on my tab, instead of the velcro - I already have several more cut out to work on - it IS a great pattern!
