A Knitting Project

Except for one sadly misshapen dishcloth, this is my first real knitting project that I have completed. Reluctantly modeled my by husband, Tim. It's not perfect, but then not much is. I think it turned out pretty good, except for where I had to sew it together (I turned that part out of view for the photo, of course!). I wouldn't mind trying to knit it in the round, but I've never done knitting in the round, plus the circulars that I have are too long, so...... I am proud that I finished it!

Oh, I forgot to say that the pattern is by Leslie Friend and you can find it here. I've only been knitting since January, and I found this pattern easy to follow and complete.

i've only sewn seams on one project, and vowed never to do seams again if i can avoid them - so i LOVE knitting in the round on circulars!!! it seriously is SO easy, and there's a great video tutorial on knittinghelp.com that shows it very clearly. one great thing about knitting in the round is that to get stockinette, you don't have to knit one row, purl the next - you just knit the whole thing!! SO much easier - i don't much care for purling myself. anyway, it was WELL worth the $40 or so that i spent on the set of 17" circulars and double points. (you have to get double points too, b/c when you do the decreases at the top of the hat, you have to switch to double points when there aren't enough stitches to stretch around the circular anymore.)
