Birdie Bag...Done

I finished my Amy Butler Birdie Sling Bag on Saturday night.

Not the best photo ever, but not the best thing I ever made, either.  I was totally pleased with the pattern and the instructions, just not with how I made it turn out.  I think I was a little too hypervigilant when I was making the pleats and didn't use up enough fabric.  This "error" left left the body of the bag quite a bit wider than the bands.  And that is the part that went awry (or at least the part that I don't like).  Now I know better.  I would make this pattern again...I just was not enamored of ironing on the fusible interfacing and fusible fleece to every single pattern piece.

I do have another project lined up.  Well, actually I have to make one small project today to try out my stipple quilting skills .  I have never done stipple quilting, but I need to do some sort of quilting for the My Paris Traveler's Bag pattern

Why the Paris Traveler's Bag that won't even be for myself?  Well, we have two nieces that are graduating from high school and I thought it would be a nice gift.  Of course, I wish I would have thought about it in March instead of two weeks before graduation.  We'll see what happens.  I only purchased fabric for one bag, and I picked something that I like, too, in case I only finish one and then can't give it away.
